NEW CONSTABLES SWORN IN

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service would like to congratulate its newest constables, who were officially sworn in by the Honourable Madam Justice Desormeau at the Cornwall Courthouse on May 3, 2024.

Cst. Mathieu Perreault and Special Constable Dan O’Rourke were officially sworn in.

“We are honoured to have two exceptional members of our community join the service today,” said Chief of Police Shawna Spowart, who was on hand for the ceremony. “These two individuals come to us with unique backgrounds and skills we believe will ensure they are successful in their respective roles.”

Please join us in welcoming our newest constable recruits to the CPS:

Cst. Perreault

After working with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), where he gained experience policing in a remote northern community, Cst. Perreault looks forward to serving the public with the CPS. He also has more than eight years of experience working at the Cornwall Community Hospital as an Environmental Service Aide. In addition, the local married entrepreneur runs a small business in the community restoring and maintaining boats.

S/Cst. O’Rourke

He joins the CPS after recently retiring from a lengthy career at Laurencrest Youth Services. S/Cst. O’Rourke began working at Laurencrest in 1981 as a residential caseworker, and after an exemplary career supporting youth in our community, he became the Executive Director in 2015 until his retirement in February of 2024. His desire to remain involved in community service prompted the married father of two to accept a job as a part-time special constable for the CPS.
